The answer is yes, you can use a wireless mouse with USB receiver on your HM245.
Do you need the hard-drive installed for this to work? I connected a wireless mouse and it does nothing.

you don't need to install the controls, you just plug in the wireless mouse,
cut off the power and restart it, then it's OK.
But it may also not compatible with the mouse, depends on the brands.
Tried that. I find it hard to believe it's not compatible with a new Logitech M317 mouse.
My logitech cordless mouse works fine on my HM241. Plug and play, didn't even need a reboot.
I've tried 2 different ones and neither work.
Which mouse are you using?
